o Abstract

Nicole Bachmann, winner of the 2008 National Suisse Art Prize and entitled of a solo show at LISTE Basilea 2008,
is the artist with whom N.O. Gallery begins the 2008/2009 expositive season.
Uncertainties, headline of a video installation, is constituted by 5 projections in which Bachmann, exhibiting for the first time in Italy, has a confrontation on the theme of sexual identity.

What defines a male and female pose?
Is there a pose attributable either to men or women?
Are movements biologically defined by the shape of our body or are our positions influenced by a prearranged cultural knowledge?
Is the pose a pure performative act?
Does the identity tied to the role depend on behaviours adopted by a person to understand and communicate to others its own womanliness or virility?
Can specific poses or behaviour be read as a mean of sure identity?
